The Collie Club of Austin and Shetland Sheepdog Club of Austin shared a booth at this year’s Pet Expo at the Austin Palmer Events Center, which turned out to be among the more popular destinations for visitors at the event.
In addition to the opportunity to get a basic groom or nail clip for their own pet, visitors were able to meet dogs from both wonderful breeds, learn about the similarities and differences between them, and share their their own Collie and Sheltie stories with us!
The booth was a popular destination for visitors throughout the day, with an almost constant flow of people wanting to see our dogs and learn more about them. We had several folks patiently waiting in line to get a trim for their pup. Stanford did his usual ambassadorial duties for our breed, graciously allowing large numbers of children to pet him and doing “celebrity” photos. We had smooth-coated and rough Collies, AKC brochures and other information on hand, and even special treats for our canine guests!
Elsewhere at the show, Shorty Rossi was there with his Pitbull, Hercules (a wonderful dog, by the way), there was an agility course for guests to try, karaoke, and even a pet costume contest. Many interesting displays were on-hand, including a mobile small animal hyperbaric chanber! And our friends from Austin Canine Central were also there with their great selection of dog items.
This year’s Expo was a great event, and we thank the Collie Club of Austin for the opportunity to share a booth with us. See you at the 2014 event!
