The SSCA makes no specific breeder recommendations, but we will be happy to assist you in locating a responsible breeder. We do try to assure the breeders we may refer you to are reputable. However, prospective Sheltie owners must make their own decisions based upon their own situation, breeder relationship, and evaluation of breeder reputation.
Some breeders have litters on a regular basis, others infrequently. Many typically breed for specific purposes in furtherance of the Shetland Sheepdog. Not all puppies will be suitable for the conformation ring or top-level performance careers, resulting in occasional pet quality puppies who will make wonderful additions to families.
